Football stars from Southeast Asia to ignite Champions eFootball

CHAMPIONS eFootball is set to kick off its first round of competition on September 9, 2021 with an exciting array of matches between rival football clubs in Southeast Asia. 

Competing on KONAMI’s eFootball PES 2021 Season Update, the football clubs will compete for a combined prize pool of USD $9,250 (RM38,355). Champions eFootball will take place for five consecutive weeks and will be live-streamed on CeF’s official Facebook and Youtube channel

In its category dedicated to football stars, the highlight fixture of Matchday 1 will feature JDT frontman and midfielder, Mohamadou Sumareh from Malaysia going up against Beckham Putra, Persib Bandung’s young talent and midfielder from Indonesia. This much-anticipated opening match in the STAR category will be historic as it's the first time prominent football players compete in any esports.

“I’m very excited to be able to compete and represent JDT FC in Champions eFootball. In the hope of bringing a new level of excitement to fans and esports enthusiasts from across the region, we urge all our fans to tune in to the competition to show their support.” said Mohamadou Sumareh.

“This will be my first time representing Persib Bandung in esports and I’m thrilled to be able to compete against some of the best football clubs in Southeast Asia in Champions eFootball. I look forward to doing my best for my club and country in the competition” said Beckham Putra.

In the coming weeks, Champions eFootball will continue to feature exciting matches between football players and local celebrities including Worachit Kanitsribampen (Chonburi FC), Chitipat Tanklang (Buriram United), Lam Ti Phong (Ho Chi Minh City FC), Pocholo Bugas (United City FC), Dylan Goh (Tampines Rovers) and Mustache Band (Nagaworld FC). As these stars make their debut, passionate fans have taken to social media to express and rally their support for the respective players and football clubs. 

On Matchday 1, the ELITE category will have four highly anticipated matches as some of the biggest football clubs in Southeast Asia go head-to-head with the likes of JDT FC (Malaysia) vs Buriram United (Thailand), Chonburi FC (Thailand) vs United City FC (Philippines), Nagaworld FC (Cambodia) vs Persib Bandung (Indonesia) and Ho Chi Minh City FC (Vietnam) vs Tampines Rovers FC (Singapore). As the football clubs in the ELITE category will be represented by professional esports players, fans can expect high-level skills and mesmerizing action.

The first matchday of Champions eFootball will be live-streamed on the official CeF Facebook and Youtube channel beginning 9th September 2021 at 7:00 pm (GMT +8).
