KUALA LUMPUR - Following an intense three-day grand final series, Singapore Management University (SMU) has been crowned the winner of the MGA University E-League (UEL) Valorant Series.
Taking second place is Sunway University while Asia Pacific University (APU) nabbed third.
The league began on July 2021, seeking out the best university esports team across Malaysia and Singapore.
After regional qualifiers, the competition boiled down to eight teams chasing after the top three prizes in a three-day-long final.
SMU bagged the RM2,500 prize money, while Sunway University and APU took home RM1,500 and RM1,000 respectively.
The winning teams are set to compete in MSI's MGA University Championship, a Southeast Asian esports circuit.
“It is our ultimate goal for Malaysia with the UEL MGA Valorant Series to provide college and university students with the opportunity to directly participate in the wonderful world of esports.
“As a world leader in gaming, MSI is one of the most trusted names in gaming and esports. We dedicate this competition series to support Southeast Asia’s most aspiring gamers and to give back to the community,” said Henry Chung, MSI Malaysia managing director. - The Vibes, September 21, 2021
