THE success of an athlete must be largely attributed to the support and encouragement from parents, says the father of Hong Kong's bronze medal winner Doo Hoi-kem.
Doo's father Oscar says that's a vital ingredient for children to achieve their goal.
Doo's parents decided to throw support to their daughter when she opted to drop out when in secondary school to pursue a career as a full-time athlete.
The father says that dropping out of school deprived his daughter of precious school life and friends but believes that it has been all worthwhile after his daughter won a bronze medal in table tennis at the Tokyo Olympics.
Doo’s mother believes each child has their own personal traits, but they might not have the courage to show it. Thus parents should communicate more with their children to explore their areas of specialties. - Agencies, September 24, 2021
