IN Forbes’ latest list of the highest earning footballers, Mohamed Salah of Liverpool is ranked fifth despite his on-going negotiations with the club for a contract extension, which expires in the summer of 2023.

The winger is reportedly demanding £500,000 (RM2.9 million) in weekly wages.

The Egyptian international recently joined the Premier League 100-goal club, a feat he reached in 162 appearances, with only Alan Shearer, Harry Kane, Sergio Aguero, and Thierry Henry reaching that milestone quicker than him.

Salah thus becomes the second African to join the 100-goal club after Chelsea and Ivory Coast great Didier Drogba who scored 104 goals for the Blues.

Salah is currently earning US$25 million (RM105 million) in wages and another US$16 million in endorsements, according to Forbes.

The Reds forward is behind Kylian Mbappe (PSG), Neymar (PSG), Lionel Messi (PSG) and Cristiano Ronaldo of Manchester United.

The top 10:

1. Cristiano Ronaldo (US$125m): US$70m salary; US$55m endorsements;

2. Lionel Messi (US$110): US$75m salary; US$35m endorsements;

3. Neymar Jr. (US$95m): US$75m salary; US$20m endorsements;
