KUALA LUMPUR − Kuala Lumpur Standard Chartered Marathon (KLSCM) − the biggest and most-awaited running event in Malaysia − will be held virtually for the second year.

The free-to-register race, which will take place from November 20-28, will be available in several distance categories, including a full marathon, half marathon, 10km and 5km. There is also a grand lucky draw, where participants can win an all-expense trip for two to an international marathon in Europe.

In lieu of the KLSCM 2021 Virtual Run, Run Fast Academy is offering training plans for participants aged 18 years and above. As the official training provider for the event, Run Fast Academy will be offering two types of plans: Plan A for 5km and 10km, which is catered for short-distance runners, and Plan B, which is designed for half and full marathon long-distance runners.

Run Fast Academy co-founder and head coach, Sam Seow, said: “We are committed to sharing our knowledge. The key is to help runners understand what causes injuries and how to reduce them by offering training zones, nutritional advice and mental preparation tips.”

Since its establishment in 2016, Run Fast Academy has conducted over 500 offline training programmes as well as online Zoom sessions during the pandemic. The academy has also conducted overseas training in Singapore, Philippines, Thailand, Korea and Japan. In total, 5,000 runners have benefitted from their training, which focuses on four key pillars or FAST: Focus, Alignment, Strength & Tactical Training.

“It is important for the runners to know the different sets of skills required to become better at running different distances. Hence, we offer two training plans for participants of KLSCM 2021 VR so that they can improve, and at the same time, we hope to inspire more participants to become elite runners.” Sam added

There will be five online and one offline session at the designated parks identified for the training. Participant’s quota for the training plans are set to ensure the quality of the training is not compromised and that standard operating procedures (SOPs) are met.

The end objective is to ensure runners have fun, a healthy lifestyle and build resilience. The respective training sessions are available in Bahasa Malaysia, English and Mandarin.

Affordably priced at RM59 for Plan A and RM69 for Plan B, participants of KLSCM 2021 VR  can purchase these training plans here. These plans are available on a first-come-first-serve basis.
