KUALA LUMPUR – Former national men’s doubles shuttler, Chan Chong Ming tendered his resignation as the national women’s doubles coach last Wednesday (Dec 29).
Following careful consideration, the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM), in a statement today, informed that they had reached the decision to accept Chong Ming’s resignation.
It said the 41-year-old coach left his position by mutual consent after joining BAM in July 2020.
“BAM would like to express its gratitude to Chong Ming for his contribution to the national women’s doubles team’s achievements thus far.
“Everyone at the association wishes him well in his future endeavors,” it said.
Chong Ming was the main architect who transformed up and coming pair, Pearly Tan-M Thinaah as the duo rose to the occasion by securing the Swiss Open title last March, apart from helping Chow Mei Kuan-Lee Meng Yean qualify for the Tokyo Olympic Games last July.
During his time as a player, Chong Ming had earned two bronze medals in the World Championships with Chew Choon Eng in 2001 and Koo Kien Keat in 2005 while helping Malaysia to emerge as runner-up in the 2002 Thomas Cup before he hanging up his racquet in 2007. – Bernama, December 31, 2021
