KUAL A LUMPUR − Having just concluded his meeting with the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM), the nation’s top shuttler Lee Zii Jia said the meeting has been very positive.

“We have reached a very positive conclusion,” said the ace badminton player.

Yesterday, The Vibes reported that Lee had submitted an appeal on his two-year ban sanctioned by BAM after resigning prematurely from the national association.

When asked on the reason for his resignation, Zii Jia says he isn’t willing to go into details right now.

“So far, I don’t want to give an explanation but rest assured, I will have a press conference from my side very soon.

“This meeting was regarding my appeal letter and I think we are happy with the discussion,” he said.

Also present at the meeting was BAM deputy president Datuk Seri Jahaberdeen Mohamed Yunoos, who said: “Today’s meeting was very positive.

“I think we have found a way forward for both Zii Jia and BAM. The only thing left for us now is to put forward the matter to the BAM council for an official endorsement and we will make a formal announcement next week.

“Rest assured it is a very good conclusion − acceptable to both BAM and Lee Zii Jia,” he said.

When asked on whether the two-year ban imposed on Zii Jia would be lifted, Jahaberdeen says a satisfactory decision has been reached by both sides.

“There is no rivalry between BAM and Zii Jia and we will make the announcement on the decision next week,” he added. − The Vibes, January 25, 2022
