THE future of national women's doubles team, Pearly Tan-M Thinaah, with the national squad has finally been answered when it was understood that they have reached an agreement to sign a new contract with the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM).
BH Sukan understands that negotiations between the two parties have been finalised and the world number three pair is expected to sign this weekend before departing for Tokyo to participate in the Japan Open from July 15 to 20.
The new contract will see Pearly-Thinaah remain with BAM until the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games.
Previously, the future of Pearly-Thinaah with the national squad has raised questions after they were yet to sign a new contract even though their previous contract expired last December.
BAM President, Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz, previously said that the Pearly-Thinaah contract issue will be resolved before the two players depart for Japan.
After the Japan Open, Pearly-Thinaah are scheduled to participate in the China Open from July 22 to 27 before competing in the World Championships in Paris from August 25 to 31.
In the last four tournaments they participated in, they showed excellent performances when they won a title at the Thailand Open and emerged as runners-up at the Indonesia Open, in addition to reaching the semi-finals of the Malaysian Masters and the quarter-finals of the Singapore Open. - July 8, 2025
