KUALA LUMPUR – Former national shuttler Goh Jin Wei has submitted an appeal letter to the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) over her two-year suspension.

The matter was confirmed by BAM secretary-general Datuk Kenny Goh.

“We just received her appeal letter last night. Therefore, we will go through the necessary process,” he told The Vibes.

Jin Wei was slapped with a two-year ban from entering any international tournaments by the national body along with her teammate and men’s player Lee Zii Jia last Friday.

Zii Jia, who had already submitted an appeal letter concerning the ban, may see his suspension lifted after concluding ‘positive’ discussions with BAM yesterday.

Jin Wei announced her retirement form the sport altogether in September last year due to health concerns.

However, there have been contradictory explanations from the former Malaysian top player, who signed up with the Kuala Lumpur Racket Club earlier this month to train for the 2024 Paris Olympics − four months after announcing her retirement from the sport. – The Vibes, January 26, 2022.
