KUALA LUMPUR – In light of recent events where a Selangor FC fan was seen shouting at his supported team player, the club has issued a statement calling for positive attitude and mentality.
The confrontation came after The Red Giants’ stunning 4-1 win over Kedah Darul Aman FC on Sunday at the Petaling Jaya Stadium where a fan, who was sitting at the edge of the stands, yelled abusive words at captain Muhammad Safuwan Baharudin.
In a statement, the club said everyone from the management, coaches, players, partners to fans matters and are equally important.
“We strongly advocate a positive attitude and mentality to further elevate team performances through constructive feedback, all without undermining the value of being respectful and kind to one another,” the club said in the statement.
The club added that while they encourage the freedom to voice out opinions for their betterment, they firmly believe that everyone should be mindful with how the message is delivered because what is said and written can ultimately have an impact on other people’s lives and their mental health.
“We need to constantly remind ourselves that everyone at the club has an important role to play in spreading positivity, kindness, love and respect amongst each other.
“We should always understand that it is never easy to deal with intimidation, harassment and bullying in any form,” they added.
In the spirit of promoting a message of positivity, Selangor FC believes the right support and encouragement can essentially lift one another up and ultimately bring long-term success to the club.
In the match, Selangor’s four goals consisted of two from Herlison Caion De Souza Ferreira, one by midfielder Muhammad Mukhairi and another from substitute Mohd Nor Hakim Hassan.
The Selangor fan was seemingly angered at the defensive line for conceding a goal from Kedah’s Mohd Fayadh Mohd Zulkifli Amin in injury time. – The Vibes, April 12, 2022
