KUALA LUMPUR – Perak FC have been slammed with a six-point deduction for the 2022 Premier League season for failure to settle the salary arrears of players and officials belonging to the main and reserve teams as of November 2021.

The decision was made by the First Instance Body (FIB), an independent decision-making body appointed by the FA of Malaysia (FAM).

FIB chairman Sheikh Mohd Sharif said the club still failed to settle the salary arrears on April 14, 2022, which was the second deadline imposed after they missed the initial deadline on March 31 resulting in a three-point deduction on April 1, 2022.

“The FIB meeting decided to implement a six-point deduction for the 2022 Premier League following Perak FC’s failure to pay the salary arrears of players and officials by yesterday’s deadline.

“This decision also takes into account Perak FC’s failure to submit proof of payment or joint settlement agreement for the deferral of arrear payments,” he said in a statement.

He said that if the club does not submit a proof of full payment or joint settlement agreement to the Malaysian Football League (MFL) on or before April 21, 2022, the matter will then be brought to the FIB committee and MFL board of directors for further action the following day.

“Until now, FIB has not received any documentation from Perak FC that convinces the body on the club’s ability to resolve the salary arrears of 2021 and 2022 as well as the club’s financial position in facing the rest of the 2022 season,” he added. – The Vibes, April 15, 2022.
