ALOR STAR – Kedah Darul Aman (KDA) FC have taken several measures to get the team back on track following feedback received about the team’s recent lacklustre form.

Its chief executive officer Khamal Idris Ali said in a statement today that the club had taken appropriate action in the first phase of the performance evaluation around last June by making changes after the post-mortem was carried out, including by bringing in defender Mohamad Akmal Md Zahir and two import midfielders, Sanrawat Dechtmir and Mahmoud Al-Mardi.

“The evaluation and actions taken have resulted in KDA FC performing brilliantly on the Asian stage by winning Group G and then qualifying for the semi-finals of the 2022 Asean Zone of the AFC Cup.

“The evaluation process of the second phase after the AFC Cup this time will undergo the same process through a more appropriate follow-up approach,” he said.

Khamal said a recent assessment revealed the team’s fluctuating performance was due to several factors, including the transition of key players, injuries to import players and key local players, player health factors, tight schedules and limited substitutes.

He said the evaluation was not only based on goals scored but took into account scientific data provided by the analyst, the player’s performance reports by the coaching staff and the steps taken.

On players’ welfare, Khamal said the management always prioritised their welfare and there was no outstanding salary issue as alleged on social media.

Although KDA FC was transitioning to financial management without being fully dependent on the state government, it was still able to fulfil its responsibilities to the team.

“KDA FC is also positive and very grateful for the various feedback, complaints and grievances from all parties regarding Sang Kenari’s recent performance. This is a positive sign that Sang Kenari is always close to the hearts of its supporters,” he said. – Bernama, August 7, 2022
