ALOR STAR – Kedah Darul Aman FC (KDA FC) coach Mohd Nafuzi Mahammad Zain admitted that there is still much to be done to strengthen his team, despite winning their first two matches  in the Super League competition this season.

He said players’ determination and game pace against Terengganu FC last night and Perak FC on Saturday were still inconsistent, and that there were positional weaknesses, especially in midfield.

“Alhamdulillah for the three points (last night), it was important even though it was a difficult game. Terengganu played well, and there were moments when we were also good.

“We were a bit slow from the start, we didn’t put any pressure on Terengganu...but I’m sure the team is capable of playing better.

“I know my players’ ability,” he told reporters after the match which saw KDA FC beat Terengganu FC 1-0 at Darul Aman Stadium here, last night.

The solitary goal was contributed by Fadzrul Daniel after being brought in to replace team captain Manuel Gelito Ott towards the end of the match.

“Terengganu dominated the game and had more opportunities but Alhamdulillah, it was our change of players that altered the situation tonight (last night),” added Nafuzi.

In the meantime, Nafuzi hopes his players can show a better performance in their clash against PDRM FC this Saturday by exerting a lot of pressure and going into “attack mode”.

Meanwhile, Terengganu FC head coach Tomislav Steinbruckner said he hoped his players will be able to bounce back in the next match to boost the team’s morale. – Bernama, March 2, 2023
