KUALA LUMPUR – Kuala Lumpur City FC (KLFC) are sponsoring match tickets and local transportation for fans who travelled to Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam to watch their club take on Viettel FC today in the AFC Cup Asean Zonal semi-final.

In a statement today, the club management said the City Boys are extremely grateful to have their fans show up to support their first-ever Asean level knockout game in 28 years.

With the kick-off scheduled at 7pm tonight, the club has arranged for match tickets and a domestic bus to ferry supporters to Thong Nhat Stadium.

“Despite our lean resources, it is paramount for us to acknowledge the commitment and support of our fans who have travelled to show their unwavering support for the club.

“The club hopes that this one-off gesture of appreciation will help cushion the costs of our fans, while making their stay in Saigon one to be remembered for years to come,” they said in the statement.

Meanwhile, KLFC chief executive officer Stanley Bernard said the fans have faced many challenges in their journey to support their club.

“They have made plenty of sacrifices to be here (Vietnam).

“Hopefully, this initiative allows the majority of our attending fans to be more at ease and truly enjoy the occasion.”
