KUALA LUMPUR – National diving queen Datuk Pandelela Rinong Pamg hopes to make a comeback at the Kuala Lumpur Diving Grand Prix 2022, which will be held on November 25-27.
As part of her preparation for the tournament, Pandelela said she wanted to focus on her physical rehabilitation so she could continue to give her best.
“I’m going to start training tomorrow and I’m looking forward to the upcoming KL Diving Grand Prix in November.
“I also have to take care of my physical condition to avoid any serious injuries, as I am not getting any younger and the recovery might take longer than usual,” she said.
Her dismal performance at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games 10m platform final took many by surprise as she was the medal hope for the country.
However, she reiterated that she had no regrets about it.
“When it comes to the Commonwealth Games, anything can happen because sometimes you have luck on your side, sometimes you don’t.
“Most importantly, I have no regret about my performance because I have been training hard for the games.
“Maybe the preparation was a bit rushed because I had returned from the World Championships (a month before),” Pandelela added.
Pandelela added that she wished to be more consistent and vowed to improve her form from one competition to the next so she could qualify for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
She also hopes to participate in her first international competition, after the Commonwealth, which is the 2023 Diving World Series.
The 29-year-old Olympian was met after launching her exclusive “P.Zero1” NFT collectible today.
The letter P stands for Pandelela, while Zero1 represents her journey from “a nobody to somebody” in sports, she explained.
“P.Zero1” is available for auction at a starting price of RM2,000 via the digital NFT market, OpenSea, from today until August 31.
