KOTA BARU – Kelantan FC are not ready to “raise the white flag” yet even though their chances of being crowned Premier League champions this season have narrowed following their 1-2 defeat to Selangor FC II at Sultan Muhammad IV Stadium, here last night.

Head coach Rezal Zambery Yahya said the defeat means his team now have to rely on the result of the final match to be played by Johor Darul Ta’zim II (JDT II), who are currently at the top of the league.

“Kelantan FC’s last match will be against Kelantan United FC (KUFC) and we are still on a mission to find the full three points, the players need to forget this defeat and fix their weaknesses,” he told reporters after the match.

Kelantan FC’s hopes of overtaking JDT II stalled after last night’s defeat.

Kelantan got their only goal through Muhammad Ghaffar’s penalty kick in the 76th minute while Selangor FC II scored through Muhammad Aliff izwan Yuslan in the 28th minute and S. Sharvin in the 34th minute.

After 17 matches, Kelantan FC are now second in the league with 36 points, three points behind JDT II who have collected 39 points. – Bernama, September 5, 2022
