KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysian Football League (MFL) today approved Sri Pahang FC’s registration of their naturalised players for the M-League 2022.

In a statement, MFL said the decision was made after their board of directors meeting.

Sri Pahang have now completed the naturalisation of Huddersfield-born Lee Tuck and Argentinian-born Sergio Aguero.

“Sri Pahang FC’s appeal to register two naturalised players as local players was approved, and the amendment to Article 3.4.9(ii) of the Competition Rules, Malaysian League Manual was enforced immediately to avoid conflict between the Malaysian constitution and the MFL Competition Rules.

“The registration of these players will be effective from the 2022 Malaysia Cup tournament,” read the statement.

Tuck had recently announced on his Instagram account that he became a naturalised Malaysian citizen, adding that it “was an opportunity I couldn’t pass on”.

Tuck and Aguero are now the fourth and fifth naturalised players after Mohamadou Sumareh, Liridon Krasniqi and Guilherme De Paula.

However, Tuck’s naturalisation had drawn criticism from various parties such as national football legend Datuk Santokh Singh, local football consultant E.R. Subramaniam as well as family and child’s rights lawyer Goh Siu Lin. – The Vibes, September 7, 2022
