KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysia's participation in the Fifth Session of the Islamic Conference of Youth and Sports Ministers (ICYSM) in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia provides an opportunity for the national delegation to jointly develop a strategic action plan to empower Islamic youth, said the Youth and Sports Ministry.
In a statement, the ministry said that the conference which started yesterday will also witness its minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu share ideas towards the development of youth and sports, especially for Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) member countries.
According to the ministry, the conference will discuss matters such as methods of increasing youth capacity and sports development of member countries, the challenges faced by them in the sports field due to the Covid-19 pandemic as well as proposals to implement the OIC youth development strategy and sports development action plan.
“The participation of the youth and sports minister at this conference as Malaysia’s representative shows the country’s active involvement as a founding member of the OIC.” the ministry said.
“The ICYSM conference is also a platform to strengthen bilateral relations between Malaysia and each of the OIC member countries,” said the statement.
Themed “Youth and Sports Development for a Community Based on Unity”, the conference, which will end tomorrow, is a follow-up to the participation of the Malaysian contingent in the 2021 Islamic Solidarity Games in Konya, Turkey from August 9 to 18. – Bernama, September 8, 2022
