GENTING HIGHLANDS – Terengganu Polygon Cycling Team’s (TSG) Jambaljamts Sainbayar is hoping to prove his worth at Stage 7 of the 2022 Le Tour de Langkawi as he currently stands at 10th place in the general classification.
In the overall standings, Sainbayar is 2m 39s behind current leader Ivan Sosa of Movistar.
Stage 7 on Monday will see riders race through a 90.8km-route from Kuah and end in Gunung Raya in Langkawi with a Category 1 climb of 842m.
“I am confident I can fight for the yellow jersey with the other nine riders ahead of me.
“I do not feel that my current standing is too far from them. It seems possible to catch up to them, especially in Stage 7,” said the Mongolian in an interview.
The 26-year-old, who joined TSG last year, came in 11th placing at Stage 3 (Putrajaya-Genting Highlands) yesterday.
He credited his team who worked hard to support him as it was his first time racing in the queen stage.
“Thanks to my team, I was able to stay in the front group for the last 4km.
“I hope at Stage 7, we can do better and with the team’s help and maybe I can take charge of the yellow jersey or at least achieve something for the team,” said the 2021 Tour of Thailand yellow jersey winner.
As for Stage 4 today, riders will sprint through the 137.9km that starts from Sabak Bernam and end in Meru Raya with three sprint zones – Hutan Melintang (14.1km), Kg Gajah (60.6km), and Tg Tualang (85.3km) – with no climbers’ classification. – The Vibes, October 14, 2022
