KUALA LUMPUR – National rider Syarifuddin Azman will be starting 21st out of 31 riders for tomorrow’s Moto3 race here at the Sepang International Circuit (SIC). 

Better known as Damok, Syarifuddin’s best time in today’s first qualifying session was 2m 13.091s, which landed him in seventh place in the session, but out for the second qualifying as only the front four shot it out with the top 14 riders from the practice sessions. 

Racing as a wildcard entry this weekend with Vision Track Racing Team, Damok will be behind CFMOTO Racing’s Xavier Artigas in 20th and Red Bull KTM Tech 3’s Adrian Fernandez in 19th. 

Yesterday, it was announced that Damok will be racing a full season with Moto3 outfit MT Helmets-MSi for 2023. 

For tomorrow’s Moto3 race, the pack will be led by Dennis Foggia. The Italian’s time of 2m 11.411s gave Leopard Racing the pole position. 

Foggia is currently third in the Moto3 riders’ championship behind Sergio Garcia from Gaviota Gasgas Aspar, who starts the race tomorrow third on the grid. 

Garcia’s teammate and the 2022 Moto3 world champion Izan Guevara will be starting in second with his best time of 2m 11.635s. 

Meanwhile, in Moto2, Malaysian riders Azroy Hakeem Anuar and Kasma Daniel Kasmayuddin from Petronas MIE Racing RW will be starting at the back of the grid. 

Azroy will be starting in the 28th position. His time of 2m 8.738s was better than teammate Kasma’s time of 2m 9.641, which will see him start at the very back in 29th. 

Moto2 championship leader Ai Ogura will be closest to the start line for tomorrow’s race as his time of 2m 6.405 gave him and Idemitsu Honda Team Asia pole position. 

Elf Marc VDS Racing Team’s Tony Arbolino will also be in the front row, in second while Aron Canet from Flexbox HP40 will start in third. – The Vibes, October 22, 2022
