PETALING JAYA – National striker Darren Lok is ready to use the two Tier 1 International friendlies against Cambodia and Maldives to force his way into the Harimau Malaya starting 11 in next month’s Asean Football Federation (AFF) Cup 2022.

The 32-year-old, who missed the last edition of the AFF Cup in 2020, impressed Harimau Malaya head coach Kim Pan Gon during the ongoing centralised training camp.

“I want to give my best for the national team, especially after I had to withdraw from the previous edition of the AFF Cup in 2020 due to injury.

“Things also did not go as planned for me when I was dropped from the final squad for the AFF Cup in 2016 because of an injury as well,” he said after the national team training session at Wisma FAM in Kelana Jaya here today.

The Petaling Jaya City Council striker is hoping to be third time lucky, starting by doing well in the two friendlies against Cambodia at Bukit Jalil National Stadium on December 9 and Maldives at Kuala Lumpur Football Stadium in Cheras on December 14 before the AFF Cup kicks off from December 20 to January 16, 2023. – Bernama, November 30, 2022
