KUALA LUMPUR – The Harimau Malaya squad congratulated Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) president Datuk Hamidin Mohd Amin on his election as a FIFA Council member for the 2023-2027 term.
“We are all very proud of you and hope your leadership can bring Malaysian football to the world standard,” said national team head coach Kim Pan-gon in a video.
Hamidin was selected alongside four others to represent the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) during its 33rd congress in Bahrain yesterday.
Harimau Malaya midfielder and Selangor FC captain Brendan Gan congratulated Hamidin for constantly pushing Malaysian football to develop on a global scale.
Meanwhile assistant coach Pau Marti noted that Hamidin’s new role is a great achievement for Malaysian football.
“I am really proud to be part of this project and I know that under your (Hamidin) leadership, Malaysia boleh,” said the Spaniard.
Assistant coach E. Elavarasan, U-23 squad assistant coach Juan Torres Garrido, Harimau Malaya captain Safawi Rasid, defender Dion Cools, and frontman Faisal Halim also congratulated the FAM president on his new role on the FIFA Council.
Hamidin will be joined by Kohzo Tashima from Japan, Mariano Areneta Jr. (Philippines), Sheikh Hamad Khalifa A. A. Al Thani (Qatar), and Yasser H. Almisehal (Saudi Arabia), who will make the AFC’s representatives in the FIFA Council. – The Vibes, February 2, 2023.
