KUALA LUMPUR – No second chance for professional men’s singles shuttler Lee Zii Jia as his former coach, Indra Wijaya rejected his offer in a bid to settle out of court following an unlawful termination dispute.

Speaking to The Vibes, Indra’s lawyer Muhammad Yazid Mohamad Salim, who was appointed by Messrs Wan Ahmad Ridzuan and Co, said his client had replied to the Industrial Relations Department (JPP) yesterday.

“My client responded to the JPP officer via email on Friday to reject the proposal.

“As such, the matter will now be referred to the industrial court.

“However, with respect to the ongoing case, I shall not divulge the details of the offer,” he said.

LZJ Management Sdn Bhd submitted the proposal to Indra last week, despite exceeding the seven days set by the department during their first mediation meeting with Indra on February 23.

As Indra turned down the offer, Yazid added that there is a possibility that the JPP officer might allow Zii Jia to make another offer.

However, such a situation would be most unlikely to be considered.

Previously, Indra signed a three-year contract to join the world number four shuttler’s team in March last year, but he was dismissed in November.

Currently, the Indonesian has just started his new career as the women’s singles head coach with the Indonesia Badminton Association. – The Vibes, March 11, 2023
