GEORGE TOWN – Penang FC notched their third win in a row when they defeated Kelantan United FC 2-0 in their ninth match of the 2023 Super League at the City Stadium here last night.

Penang FC assistant head coach Manzoor Azwira Abd Wahid said his men went all out to win the match.

“We are happy with the performance tonight (last night).

“I don’t ask for more from the players, I just hope they can do their best each time they play,” he told reporters after the match.

He said that the Panthers will continue to try to give their best in the upcoming matches.

Meanwhile, Kelantan United FC assistant head coach Nazrulerwan Makmor said that the withdrawal of Morgaro Lima Gomis at the beginning of the game had affected the team’s performance.

“We did not have a replacement for Morgaro Lima Gomis. We only had one player in the middle and that somewhat crippled our game after Morgaro Lima Gomis left,” he said.

He added that the lack of rest and player fatigue after playing consecutive matches were among the contributors to Kelantan United not getting any points in last night’s match.

Penang FC, who are in eighth place in the league, are next scheduled to face 12th-ranked Kuching FC on April 27 at the City Stadium.

Kelantan United, who are in 14th spot, will meet Kuala Lumpur City FC, who are in seventh place, on May 20 at the Sultan Muhammad IV Stadium, Kota Baru. – Bernama, April 19, 2023
