KOTA KINABALU – Sabah FC defender Daniel Ting calls on fans to flock to the Likas Stadium here, tonight when the Rhinos take on Selangor in the Super League tonight.
As they face Selangor FC tonight, Ting said the team is roaring to go all out in defending their territory against the Red Giants.
However, the England-born footballer added that if there were more solid support shown from the fans, it would be great to boost the morale of the squad.
“I do not think we should worry so much about Selangor. As long as we play the best we can, I think we can win.
“(Tonight) is going to be a big game. We need to win to keep up with them in the table (standing) and that adds a bit more pressure.
“So hopefully a lot of fans would turn up and see if we can get a full stadium to get behind us.
“Personally, if there are more fans the better,” he said when met during the squad’s training session here, yesterday.
Likas Stadium has been the home of Sabah FC since its opening in 1983 and has a seating capacity of 22,000 spectators.
Meanwhile, teammate and midfielder Stuart Wilkin expects a tough match against Selangor, realising that the team has been getting stronger under Tan Cheng Hoe.
“I wish to put on a good performance in front of the home fans.
“We want to finish as high as possible…it is still early in the season, but we need to keep getting good results that would help us climb the table,” he said.
Currently placed in fourth, Sabah are behind Johor Darul Ta’zim FC, Selangor FC, and Sri Pahang FC.
If they win tonight, Sabah FC will move Sri Pahang into third place in the table. – The Vibes, April 27, 2023
