KUALA LUMPUR – World number one Malaysian tower runner Soh Wai Ching set a course record at the Guoyuan V3 City Elite Vertical Marathon Circuit (Changzhou Station).

Wai Ching finished the race with a time of 6m 23s, running up a total of 54 floors and 1,239 steps at the Modern Media Centre, ChangZhou in JiangSu province, China.

It was Wai Ching’s second competition in China during this trip after winning the previous one in JiaXing.

Three-time champion from the series Zhang Sheng and Hong Peng (3rd place in JiaXing) were supposed to participate in this competition, but they were absent.

This paved the way for Wai Ching to win the race.

However, he was challenged by Yao Long Wei for 30 floors before the host nation runner fell behind.

Wai Ching then took the lead and pushed through all the way to the finishing line.

The next stop for Wai Ching will be the Tunnel to Towers Tower Climb New York City event at One World Trade Centre on June 4th. – The Vibes, May 27, 2023
