MALAYSIAN Anti-Corruption Commission(MACC) chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki has rejected allegations that the agency failed to act on an alleged ledger detailing bribery payments to personnel of the Royal Malaysian Air Force, describing claims by activist Badrul Hisham Shaharin as misleading.
Azam told the New Straits Times that Badrul Hisham, popularly known as Chegubard, had never provided the MACC with any physical or digital copy of the purported ledger and had only sent investigators a link to one of his Facebook posts.
“The post cannot be considered evidence as the document is not complete and has several details redacted,” Azam said.
“He never provided any copy of the ledger, be it in physical or digital form directly to us.
“What he is trying to do is mislead the public by creating a negative perception that the MACC is not doing its job,” he added.
Azam said that if Badrul Hisham was in possession of credible evidence, it should have been formally handed over to the MACC for investigation.
The response follows claims made by Badrul Hisham on Friday that he held an “expenditure ledger” allegedly obtained from a defence contractor, which he said documented payments made to Royal Malaysian Air Force personnel.
According to Badrul Hisham, the alleged payments included monthly allowances, sponsorship for overseas courses and coverage of personal expenses.
He claimed that personal expenses listed in the documents included golf club membership fees and overseas travel costs, while monthly payments were allegedly between RM10,000 and RM15,000.
Badrul Hisham further alleged that the documents had already been submitted to the MACC but that no action had been taken, prompting him to disclose the matter publicly.
The MACC has not indicated whether it will open a formal investigation based on the claims, reiterating that no verifiable documentary evidence has been officially submitted to the commission. - January 25, 2026
