HOSPITAL Sultanah Aminah (HSA) in Johor Bahru has launched an internal investigation into an alleged sexual harassment complaint involving a medical specialist, amid claims that the complainant was urged to withdraw the report.
The Johor Health Department (JKNJ) said the hospital management had established a Special Investigation Committee to investigate the complaint received on Aug 28.
The probe followed a report by an online news portal alleging that certain parties had asked the complainant to withdraw the misconduct report concerning the alleged sexual harassment.
“The investigation is currently being completed before further action is taken in accordance with the guidelines and procedures currently in force.
“The hospital will not compromise on any attempt to conceal, suppress, pressure or prevent any staff member from making a report concerning allegations of sexual harassment,” JKNJ said in a statement today.
The department said HSA remained committed to ensuring fairness to all parties while maintaining transparency and integrity throughout the investigation.
It said the investigation would be completed before any further action was taken in accordance with the applicable guidelines and procedures.
“JKNJ together with the hospital remain committed to providing a safe and professional working environment that is free from any form of harassment, intimidation or misconduct,” it said.
JKNJ said the hospital would continue to uphold a transparent and fair process throughout the investigation and would take appropriate action based on its findings. - September 5, 2026
