KUALA LUMPUR – This week must have been a roller-coaster ride for Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman.

Just a day after being terminated as Prasarana Malaysia Bhd non-executive chairman, he was called in by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission on two counts of power abuse.

It is learnt that he was detained after he presented himself for questioning at the MACC headquarters on Thursday afternoon.

The anti-graft agency reportedly detained the Pasir Salak MP over the appointment of his son-in-law in Prasarana.

Tajuddin is being investigated under Section 23 of the MACC Act 2009, which covers the offence of using one’s office or position for gratification, and has since been released on oral bail.

It is understood that Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has been informed of Tajuddin’s impending charges.

The lawmaker was removed from his Prasarana post by the Finance Ministry on Wednesday, just two days after two light rail transit trains on the Kelana Jaya line collided, injuring 213 passengers.

Calls for his dismissal from various quarters were amplified following the disastrous press conference he held on Tuesday, where he seemed to trivialise the incident.

Checks by The Vibes found that apart from curious onlookers, it is all peace and quiet on the street where the Umno election director lives.
