THE British royal palace has confirmed it is prepared to cooperate with law enforcement should authorities request assistance in relation to former Prince Andrew’s associations with the late U.S. financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
A palace spokesperson underlined that King Charles has expressed “his profound concern” over the continuing allegations regarding his younger brother’s conduct.
“While the specific claims in question are for Mr Mountbatten-Windsor to address, if we are approached by Thames Valley Police we stand ready to support them,” Reuters cited the spokesperson stating.
The comment follows reports that the police force is investigating claims that a woman was brought to Andrew’s residence and that documents may have been shared with Epstein.
Since last year, Andrew has been using the surname Mountbatten-Windsor, after being stripped of his royal title by King Charles in the wake of prior revelations concerning his association with Epstein.
The move reflected the crown’s intent to distance the monarchy from controversy while maintaining the former prince’s personal accountability.
The palace has not indicated any further steps, but emphasised that its position is one of support for legal processes.
King Charles’ expression of concern highlights the gravity with which the monarchy views allegations surrounding sexual misconduct and financial improprieties linked to Epstein, which have cast a long shadow over the former royal’s reputation.
Authorities have yet to release additional details of the investigation, and the spokesperson did not specify whether any documents or testimony have been requested from the palace to date.
