IRANIAN state television claimed that a drone deployed by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), the ideological military branch of the Islamic Republic, struck the US aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln. No further details were provided regarding the alleged attack.

The IRGC has previously asserted that it targeted the same aircraft carrier, but the Pentagon dismissed those claims, stating that the missiles fired “did not come anywhere near” the vessel.

The report comes as hostilities between the United States, Israel, and Iran continue to intensify across the Middle East, with air and missile strikes escalating throughout the region.

The USS Abraham Lincoln, accompanied by several guided missile destroyers, arrived in the Middle East in January. It was later joined by the USS Gerald R. Ford and its escort ships, which reportedly departed the Caribbean for the region on 13 February, according to AFP.

No independent verification of the alleged strike has been reported, and the situation highlights the mounting tensions in the Gulf as military forces from multiple nations maintain a heightened presence. - March 6, 2026
