A SERIES of explosions has been reported across Tehran as coordinated military strikes by United States and Israel continue to intensify, signalling a deepening regional conflict with widening geographic impact.

Iranian media outlets, including Fars News Agency, said blasts were heard in several parts of the capital on Sunday, indicating sustained aerial or missile bombardment targeting strategic locations. Additional strikes were reported overnight in key cities such as Isfahan, Tabriz and Qom, according to Iran-based Nournews.

Bernama - Anadoulu cited on Sunday that the escalation follows a major offensive launched on February 28 by US and Israeli forces against Iranian targets, marking a turning point in regional hostilities.

In response, Tehran has carried out retaliatory strikes involving drones and missiles aimed at Israel as well as neighbouring countries including Jordan, Iraq and several Gulf states hosting US military assets.

The intensifying conflict has already resulted in mounting casualties and extensive infrastructure damage, while also sending shockwaves through global markets and disrupting international air travel.

Analysts warn that continued escalation risks further destabilising the region and threatening critical energy and shipping routes. - March 29, 2026
