AT least two people were killed and five others, including a two-year-old child, were wounded in a shooting at a food festival in downtown Seattle on Sunday evening, local media reported.

Seattle police said multiple people were shot in the city’s downtown area during the incident and urged the public to avoid the area while investigations were underway.

“Please avoid the area,” Seattle police said on social media platform X, referring to Seattle Center, where the Bite of Seattle food festival was being held.

“Police are investigating a shooting. Multiple shooting victims. Shots fired at the Seattle Center,” the department said.

The Seattle Times and local television station KOMO reported that two people were killed and five others injured, citing the Seattle Fire Department.

Witnesses reported hearing several gunshots at about 6pm local time, according to The Seattle Times.

Authorities have launched an investigation into the shooting, with further details on the circumstances surrounding the incident and possible suspects yet to be released. - July 27, 2026
