SULTAN Hassanal Bolkiah has revoked the royal title of “Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Anak Isteri” held by his daughter-in-law, Pengiran Raabi’atul Adawiyyah Pengiran Haji Bolkiah.

The decision, which took effect immediately, was announced by the Office of the Grand Chamberlain.

Acting Grand Chamberlain Pengiran Haji Raffizanna Pengiran Haji Razali said the revocation was carried out following a royal command from Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah.

Pengiran Raabi’atul Adawiyyah is the wife of Prince ‘Abdul Malik Hassanal Bolkiah, one of the sultan’s sons.

According to state broadcaster RTB News, the decision was made after her conduct was deemed unbecoming of the spouse of a member of the royal family.

The report also said the conduct was considered to have affected the reputation of the monarchy and showed a lack of respect towards the sultan.

No details were provided on the specific conduct or incident that led to the revocation.

The palace announcement did not disclose whether any further action would be taken against Pengiran Raabi’atul Adawiyyah. – August 8, 2026
