WASHINGTON – One person was killed, possibly the suspect, and another detained following a shooting at a high school in Tennessee, the United States, yesterday, said Knoxville police in a statement carried by the Sputnik news agency, as reported by Bernama.
“Knoxville police officers responded to a report of a man, who was possibly armed, at the Austin-East Magnet High School.
“Upon approaching the subject, shots were fired… One male was pronounced dead at the scene, while another was detained for further investigation.
“A police officer was wounded and taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
“There are no other known gunshot victims.”
The US has been plagued by school shootings since the massacre at Columbine in the state of Colorado in April 1999, reported AFP.
