ANKARA – Two doses of the CoronaVac Covid-19 vaccine, made by Chinese company Sinovac, produce a strong antibody response in children over 3 years old, said the Anadolu agency, quoting a new study yesterday.

The Lancet journal reported on Phases 1 and 2 trials conducted in the northeastern Chinese province of Hebei among children aged 3 to 17.

“Between October 31 and December 2, 2020, 110 individuals were screened and 72 were enrolled in Phase 1. Between December 12 and 30, 2020, 515 individuals were screened and 480 were enrolled in Phase 2,” said the study.

“CoronaVac was immunogenic in children and adolescents aged 3 to 17.”

It added that the rate of neutralising antibodies in children and adolescents who received both doses stood at over 96%. – Bernama, June 30, 2021
