KUALA LUMPUR – Social media platform Instagram has resolved a technical issue that saw an outage for thousands of users early this morning.

The platform’s owner, Meta, said the service is back up for most users after the technical issue caused some users to have trouble accessing Instagram.

“We resolved the issue as quickly as possible for everyone who was impacted,” a Meta spokesman told Reuters.

While Meta did not say how many users were affected, Downdetector.com showed more than 100,000 incidents in the US, 24,000 in Canada and more than 56,000 in the UK.

As for Malaysia, Downdetector.com received some 1,300 outage reports.

At the peak of the disruption, Downdetector.com logged more than 180,000 users reporting Instagram access issues.
