CHINA-headquartered SBH Kibing Solar New Energy further solidified its presence in Sabah with a significant RM7.2 billion investment in a new solar glass manufacturing facility in Kimanis.
Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor witnessed the signing of key agreements in Kota Kinabalu today.
He believes the company’s partnership with two Sabah government-linked companies would boost economic growth and generate more jobs for locals.
A sublease agreement between SBH Kibing and Sawit Kinabalu’s subsidiary, Fokasrama Sdn Bhd, will pave the way for the construction of the new facility, which is set to be among the largest solar glass plants in the region.
The new facility will be SBH Kibing’s second solar glass manufacturing plant in the state.
The project complements Kibing’s existing plant at the Kota Kinabalu Industrial Park (KKIP) and underscores the company’s commitment to Sabah as a key manufacturing hub.
The second agreement, with Sabah Energy Corporation (SEC), secures a 45 million standard cubic feet daily supply of natural gas for the plant’s operations.
Signing for SBH Kibing were Chairman William Chen and Deputy Managing Director Celine Li, while Sawit Kinabalu and SEC were represented by their top executives Datuk Victor Ationg and Datuk Adzmir Abd Rahman, respectively.
Industrial Development Minister Datuk Phoong Jin Zhe, SEC Chairman Datuk Annuar Ayub, and State Secretary Datuk Seri Safar Untong attended the ceremony alongside other senior officials. – November 13, 2024
