THE launch of the Invest Malaysia Facilitation Centre Johor (IMFC-J) marks a key development in accelerating and simplifying investment processes within the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ).

This new initiative is set to play a pivotal role in attracting high-impact investments, particularly in advanced manufacturing, digital technology, and sustainable development.

In a joint statement today, the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA), Iskandar Regional Development Authority (IRDA), and Invest Johor shared that the IMFC-J offers a comprehensive range of services to facilitate end-to-end investment procedures.

The office, located in Menara Delima Satu at Forest City, Johor, was officially opened yesterday by Tunku Mahkota Ismail, the Regent of Johor.

The IMFC-J aims to serve as a one-stop hub, streamlining various investment processes and reducing bureaucratic hurdles by providing a centraliSed platform where investors can address all their requirements.

This eliminates the need for dealing with multiple agencies or departments across different locations, MIDA said.

Investment, Trade, and Industry Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz highlighted: “ “The IMFC-J is a significant step toward ensuring a seamless investment facilitation experience in the JS-SEZ.”

He noted that both the IMFC and MIDA’s Project Implementation and Facilitation Office (TRACK) had already demonstrated success in expediting the implementation of approved projects, with over 86.5% of projects approved in 2023 now operational.

MIDA Chief Executive Officer Datuk Sikh Shamsul Ibrahim Sikh Abdul Majid emphasised the agency's commitment to prioritising investor needs and fostering an environment conducive to business growth.

He added the collaboration between federal and Johor state agencies is crucial in enhancing the ease of doing business and positioning JS-SEZ as one of Southeast Asia's top investment destinations.

While, Invest Johor CEO Natazha Harris, said: “The agency would leverage its local expertise and understanding of Johor's economic landscape to provide tailored solutions and on-the-ground support to investors, ensuring their smooth journey from initial inquiry to full operation.”

Through the establishment of the IMFC-J, Johor aims to strengthen its role as a key economic gateway within the JS-SEZ and attract high-value investments, driving sustainable economic growth for the region. – February 19, 2025
