TELEKOM Malaysia (TM) has expressed its approval of the Government’s Budget 2026 announcement, praising the continued focus on economic reforms and enhancing the well-being of Malaysians through strengthened digital infrastructure and inclusivity.

TM Managing Director and Group Chief Executive Officer Amar Huzaimi Md Deris highlighted the significance of the expanded JENDELA 2 programme, Points of Presence (PoP), NADI Centres, and the new Sambungan Kabel Dasar Laut MADANI (SALAM) initiative, emphasising that these efforts will bolster the country’s digital resilience.

“We are encouraged by the Government’s strategic intent to advance the Sovereign AI Cloud and establish an AI Transformation Centre, which embodies Malaysia’s determination to lead in a digital-first world,” he said.

Amar Huzaimi noted TM’s alignment with this vision through its TM Cloud Alpha Edge platform, designed to protect national data sovereignty while fostering innovation across various sectors.

He also expressed pride that Multimedia University (MMU), TM’s education arm, has been recognised for its role in nurturing future AI talent and research excellence.

Acknowledging the Budget’s focus on people, Amar Huzaimi welcomed continued support for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), technical and vocational education and training (TVET), as well as capability building.

He also cited the expansion of Kampung Angkat MADANI and Sekolah Angkat MADANI programmes as vital community empowerment initiatives.

“True progress happens when communities are empowered, opportunities are created, and every Malaysian is able to participate meaningfully in the nation’s progress and digital journey,” he added in a statement regarding Budget 2026.

Looking ahead, TM reaffirmed its commitment to becoming a Digital Powerhouse by 2030, focusing on expanding national connectivity, strengthening sovereign digital capabilities, nurturing talent, and collaborating with the Government to realise a sustainable, inclusive, and digitally empowered Malaysia. - October11, 2025
