A MOBILE barber service run by a young entrepreneur is gaining attention after offering customers the convenience of haircuts at home, a concept designed to help those who struggle to travel to traditional barbershops.

Muhammad Irfan Fikry said he chose the mobile approach because it allows him to better serve customers who need flexibility, particularly individuals who are ill or living with disabilities.

“I chose a mobile concept because it is more convenient for customers, especially those who are sick or persons with disabilities (OKU).

“The advantage is that customers do not need to waste time waiting for their turn at a shop. I will come according to their available time and comfort,” he told Sinar Bisnes.

Although he operates the service part-time, usually in the mornings and evenings, Irfan said demand has been encouraging and has at times enabled him to earn nearly RM150 a day.

The bag he carries while travelling to customers’ homes has also become an indirect promotional tool for his services, attracting curiosity and interest from people he encounters.

Despite the convenience he offers his clients, Irfan acknowledged that the business presents its own challenges, particularly because he relies solely on a motorcycle for transportation.

“The biggest challenge is being on the road during the rain. I do not have a car, so my movement is somewhat limited and it is indeed challenging when heavy rain occurs while I am travelling to a customer’s home,” he explained.

Support from the public, including those who have shared information about his service on social media, has encouraged Irfan to aim higher in developing his career in the hairdressing industry.

“For now, I provide services such as men’s and women’s haircuts, hair washing and trimming. In addition, I also focus on regular customers in areas close to my home.

“God willing, I hope to buy a car in the future to make it easier to travel to customers’ homes even when it rains,” he said, adding that he also hopes to open his own barbershop one day.

Irfan said perseverance and maintaining strong relationships with customers are key to success in business.

“My advice is do not give up easily. Always learn new things and continue to increase your knowledge and skills that others may not have.

“For those who are interested in this field, you must know how to take care of customers’ feelings and provide the best service until they are truly satisfied,” he said, noting that he promotes his services through WhatsApp and Facebook. - March 10, 2026
