STAKEHOLDERS are accelerating its drive to digitise small businesses with the launch of a nationwide initiative aimed at equipping community entrepreneurs with the skills, platforms and networks needed to compete in an increasingly online marketplace.

Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil officiated the NADI Usahawan @ Shopee campaign in Putrajaya, marking a collaboration between the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) and Shopee to strengthen grassroots participation in the digital economy.

The programme is designed as a platform to connect local entrepreneurs with industry partners, enabling them to expand business networks, share knowledge and unlock new avenues for growth through digital commerce.

It sits within the entrepreneurship pillar of the NADI Smart Services Programme, a broader government effort focused on building the capacity of community-based businesses to harness digital opportunities.

Running from February to August 2026, the initiative has already engaged more than 100 entrepreneurs from a wide range of sectors, reflecting growing demand for digital upskilling among small and micro enterprises.

Participants are introduced to core elements of the online economy, including e-commerce operations, affiliate marketing and the use of Shopee Collection Points, which serve as an additional logistics and fulfilment channel to help businesses reach customers more efficiently and generate steadier income streams.

Since its introduction in 2024, the wider programme has supported more than 10,000 participants nationwide through structured training and ongoing mentorship, aimed at improving competitiveness and expanding access to domestic and regional markets.

The collaboration also underscores the evolving role of NADI centres as more than connectivity hubs, positioning them as community-based platforms for socio-economic advancement and digital inclusion, particularly for small-scale entrepreneurs.

Authorities said those interested in participating can obtain further information through nearby NADI centres or official channels managed by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission. - April 21, 2026
