PUTRAJAYA – The Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM) has extended the free registration period for SSM BizTrust until December 31 next year to support economic recovery efforts, said Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi.

“Online traders are urged to take this opportunity to register for SSM BizTrust,” he said in a statement today.

Previously, the free registration for SSM BizTrust was set to end on December 30 this year.

Nanta said the move demonstrates the government's commitment to promoting a healthy and ethical online business ecosystem, and encouraging consumers to conduct online business transactions with measures to safeguard from fraud.

Up to October 31 this year, he said 4,181 online business entities have registered with SSM BizTrust, with 629 business entities registered this year alone.

The number is still small, making up just 1.12% of 373,213 online traders recorded by SSM, and excluding independent online traders who do not market their products on renowned market platforms, he added.

SSM BizTrust is a recognition of quality standard given to businesses regulated by SSM for entities that comply with set principles and criteria. – Bernama, November 20, 2020
