DETECTIVES investigating the brutal killing of 16-year-old schoolgirl Irene Sofiya Mohd Khairool Faisal have arrested three of her male classmates following the discovery of her body inside a secondary school hall in Yong Peng.

The suspects, all aged 16, were taken into custody just hours after the victim was found fatally injured with physical trauma and dried bloodstains at approximately 5.30pm on Saturday.

One of the teenagers will be produced before the Batu Pahat Magistrate’s Court on Sunday morning as police seek a formal remand order to assist in finalizing their murder investigation.

The tragic discovery was made after the victim failed to return home from afternoon tuition classes, prompting her family to search the school premises, where she was found lying in the hall near a shattered ceramic vase.  - October 4, 2026
