A MINOR earthquake measuring 3.5 on the Richter scale struck Panginatan in Ranau, Sabah, at 10:57 AM today.
The Malaysian Meteorological Department (METMalaysia) confirmed in a Facebook update that the seismic activity occurred at coordinates 5.9° North and 116.7° East.
According to the department, the epicenter of the tremor was located approximately 14 kilometres south of Ranau, at a depth of 13 kilometres.
METMalaysia reported that tremors were felt in Ranau and its immediate surroundings.
"The Malaysian Meteorological Department will continue to monitor the situation," the department said in the statement. - October 3, 2026
