KUALA LUMPUR – Setia Utama LRT 3 Sdn Bhd (SULRT3), the contractor of the LRT3 project, has said that all payments to its appointed work package contractors have been paid in a timely manner.
SULRT3 said in a statement this evening a protest held earlier today by a subcontractor had been against the appointed contractors – RKR Bina Sdn Bhd and APEX Communications Sdn. Bhd.
“The protest held by the China Railway 17th Bureau Group (M) Sdn Bhd’s (CRCC17) subcontractors earlier today were against non-payments by CRCC17, the main subcontractor appointed by Apex Communications and RKR Bina.
“These concerns were highlighted to us approximately two months ago and upon investigation, it was established that all claims submitted by our WPCs including Apex and RKR have been paid without hesitation or delay and there are no outstanding payments as of to date for any/all work done to them.
“Payment issues faced by CRCC17’s subcontractors are therefore in no relation to SULRT3,” the company said.
It added that SULRT3 is looking into possible solutions and a way forward to assist all parties to obtain any and all pending payments.
Earlier today, it was reported that a group of subcontractors and local suppliers involved in the LRT3 project had staged a protest in Shah Alam to demand RM25 million in alleged outstanding payments.
The protest was targeted at CRCC17, which the protesters alleged owed them payments for more than a year.
The LRT3 project began August 2015 and is due for completion in 2024. – The Vibes, September 14, 2022
