KUALA LUMPUR – Bursa Malaysia opened higher today in tandem with most key regional markets, influenced by strong Wall Street performance overnight.

At 9.05am, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI advanced 9.30 points or 0.67% to 1,395.57 from yesterday’s close of 1,386.27. The key index opened 6.65 points to 1,392.92.

On the broader market, gainers surpassed decliners 219 to 61, while 178 counters were unchanged, 1,892 untraded and seven others suspended.

The ringgit opened slightly higher against the US dollar today, boosted by renewed buying interest, said a dealer.

At 9am, the local note rose to 4.7135/7180 from yesterday’s close of 4.7150/7185. – Bernama, October 18, 2022
