Ringgit sees slight rise, Bursa opens mixed amid low buying momentum

KUALA LUMPUR – The ringgit opened higher against the US dollar today as the upside in the greenback seemed to be capped amidst improving risk appetites among market participants, an analyst said.

At 9 am, the local note stood at 4.3915/3995 against the US dollar from 4.3950/4000 at yestersay’s close.

Meanwhile, Bursa Malaysia was mixed in the early session today, amidst the lack of buying momentum. 

At 9.22am, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) gained 1.43 points to 1,468.31 from yesterday’s closing of 1,466.88. The market bellwether opened 0.49 of a point easier at 1,467.37.    

On the broader market, losers edged past gainers at 229 versus 208, while 269 counters were unchanged, 1,549 untraded and 11 others suspended.

Turnover stood at 454.02 million units worth RM146.66 million. – Bernama, December 8, 2022
