UWC among top gainers on report of bullish results

KUALA LUMPUR – UWC Bhd was among the top gainers on Bursa Malaysia today after the company reported strong first-quarter results.

At 4.01pm, its shares surged more than 6% or 47 sen to RM7.86 with some 7,000,000 shares traded.

Yesterday, UWC announced that its net profit soared 93.50% to RM21.71 million in the first quarter, which ended on October 31, from RM11.22 million in the same period a year ago, while revenue rose 52.4% to RM71.50 million from RM46.91 million previously.

The engineering services company said the overwhelming performance was mainly gained from development in semiconductor and life science industries, which respectively accounted for 57.8% and 33.7% of its total revenue.

Going forward, UWC remains optimistic of its operational prospects, as the semiconductor and life science industries have been consistently growing despite adverse global economic sentiments and uncertain market conditions. – Bernama, December 2, 2020
