ACTRESS Lori Loughlin was released after serving two-months in US federal prison for paying US$500,000 (RM2.02 million) so that her daughters would be admitted into USC (University of Southern California).
The 56-year-old, known from her role as Aunt Becky in the 1980s-90s hit sitcom ‘Full House’ had entered a low-security federal prison in Dublin, some 30 miles east of San Francisco, on October 30.
Mossimo Giannulli, her husband, remains behind bars after being sentenced to five months for his role in the scandal.
Described by prosecutors as the more active participant of the duo, in addition to the prison sentence was fined US$250,000, along with 250 hours of community service.
They had both pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit fraud, earlier this year.
It remains to be seen how she will bounce back, as her last recurring role in ‘Fuller House’ has run its course with the show having ended. She has also made a number of Hallmark channel television movies.
The other major actress implicated in the scandal, Emmy-winner Felicity Huffman, has already started to bounce back with a starring role in a new sitcom coming up.
The ringleader behind the college admissions scam, William "Rick" Singer, who authorities say was paid about US$25 million to bribe coaches and university administrators, has pleaded guilty and is awaiting sentencing, expected sometime next year. – The Vibes, December 29, 2020
